Review :

Richard Greene rescues his fiancée (Eva Bartok) from East Germany

The year of production (1960) dates this black and white cold war thriller about an escape from East Germany. Although done in a low-key manner, it still manages to generate interest and suspense. Marius Goring always makes an interesting villain because he doesn't go overboard. Here the bulky Denis Shaw puts on his best German accent and is reasonably threatening. The situations and scenery add a good deal of interest, including the straying of an airplane out of the restricted air passage over East Germany that leads to Bartok's abduction. But the best part is easily an extended finale with quite a nice escape scene. Although said to be filmed in England, the German locations looked real. Richard Greene is a reliable presence in any film. Eva Bartok I felt did better than her usual in this film. All in all, it's a good spy-type film for the older film buff. Nothing very deep, no elaborate production values, just a bit of escapist entertainment.
